38th Meeting of the IAI Executive Council Action list

The action list from the 38th Meeting of the IAI Executive Council details administrative decisions, the election of the Bureau, and the establishment of a committee to draft a pronouncement on adaptation for the UNFCCC CoP-20.

• The Executive Council (EC) elected a Bureau consisting of Maria Uhle (US) as Chair, Carlos Ereño (Argentina) as First Vice-chair, and Eric Gagné (Canada) as Second Vice-Chair.
• A committee comprising Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and the SAC Chair was formed to draft a pronouncement regarding the importance of adaptation for the UNFCCC CoP-20; Uruguay will submit the final approved text to the CoP-20 on behalf of the IAI.
• The EC set guidelines for the initial Science Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), including a one-year term for its nine members and the appointment of Bob Corell as the convener for the first meeting. Future nominations will aim for staggered terms between 1 and 3 years to ensure continuity, eventually moving to a standard 3-year term for all members.
