Lista de Acciones

This document is a list of action items from the 21st Executive Council (CE) meeting of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on September 8-9, 2005. It records decisions regarding administrative modifications, the formation of an ad hoc group, the management of the IAI newsletter, and the planning of future meetings in Venezuela.

• The Executive Council (CE) approved a specific breakdown of the IAI Basic Budget contributions for 2005-2006: the three largest contributors pay 79%, the next four largest pay 15%, and the remaining 12 countries (each contributing USD 5,000 per year) provide 6%.
• The CE decided to establish a new Ad Hoc group to be led by the new Director, Holm Tiessen. Members of the CE were asked to submit ideas regarding relevant topics discussed in Montreal to the Director and Carlos Ereño by October 20, 2005.
• Four decisions were made regarding the IAI Newsletter: the Editorial Panel will be expanded to include one member from the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and one from the Conference of Parties (CoP); the CE President will invite representatives to join the panel; the SAC President will name a replacement for Alejandro Castellanos; and CE members will suggest improvements for the newsletter and Annual Report.
• Joint meetings of the CE, CoP, and SAC are scheduled for May 2006 in Caracas, Venezuela. The CE also decided to invite selected Principal Investigators from the CRN II program to this meeting to discuss scientific projects and their regional policy impacts.
• The CE called for the appointment of a new member for the Financial and Administrative Committee (FAC) with a legal, financial, or administrative profile, with nominations due by October 20, 2005. Additionally, the CE aims to fill SAC vacancies to reach a full membership of ten members before the next CoP.
