This document is a list of actions and decisions from the Seventh Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Mérida, Mexico, on July 27-28, 2000.

• The CoP established a leadership structure for its Seventh Meeting, appointing Francisco Giner de los Rios of Mexico as President, Gonzalo Menéndez of Panama as First Vice President, and Bárbara Garea of Cuba as Second Vice President.
• The CoP approved the 'IAI Standards on Conflicts of Interest and Patterns of Ethical Conduct' and directed the Executive Director to inform the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of this resolution, compile all permanent resolutions, and publish the IAI Creation Agreement and all resolutions on the IAI website.
• A Review Committee was created to conduct an External Evaluation of the IAI in 2002, with a working group tasked with preparing the Terms of Reference (TOR) consisting of Gordon McBean (Canada), Federico Garcia Brum (Uruguay), Ruben Lara (Mexico), and Maximiliano Campos (Costa Rica).
• The CoP approved the nomination of CATHALAC (Tropical Humid Water Center for Latin America and the Caribbean) and CIESIN (Center for International Earth Science Information Network) as Associate Institutions of the IAI.
• The Executive Council (CE) for the period of July 2000 to June 2002 was composed of representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, USA, and Uruguay, with Antônio MacDowell of Brazil elected as President.
