MEMORANDO DE ENTENDIMIENTO

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 10, 2024, formalizes the association of the Center for Climate and Resilience Science (CR2) with the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI). • The MoU aims to improve collaboration and the exchange of information between CR2 and IAI specifically in the areas of climate science, resilience, ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainable development within Latin America and the Caribbean.
• The parties have agreed to cooperate on several specific operational fronts, including the exchange of scientific data and research findings, the development of joint funding proposals, and the creation of capacity-building and training programs in climate science and global change.
• A specific area of cooperation is scientific diplomacy and the science-policy interface, which will be carried out through the IAI's Center for Scientific Diplomacy to address global environmental change challenges.
• The agreement follows a decision by the IAI Conference of the Parties at its 32nd meeting in 2024 to invite CR2 to become an Associate of the IAI under Article XI of the Institute's creation agreement.
