SEVENTH MEETING OF THE CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES (CoP)

This document records the eight resolutions adopted by the Conference of the Parties (CoP) during its seventh meeting held on July 27-28, 2000, in Merida, Mexico. The resolutions cover administrative approvals, financial provisions, ethical standards, and the nomination of associated institutions for the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI).

• The Conference of the Parties urged member Parties to use official diplomatic channels to ratify an amendment to Article XIII, Section 1 of the Agreement Establishing the IAI, which concerns Financial Provisions.
• The CoP approved the "IAI Policy on Conflict of Interest and Standards of Ethical Conduct" and established a Review Committee to perform an External Evaluation of the IAI in 2002, with the committee's composition to be decided at CoP-VIII in 2001.
• The Executive Council was authorized to launch an announcement of opportunity based on Scientific Advisory Committee recommendations if additional funds become available between the seventh and eighth CoP meetings.
• The CoP approved the Annual Program for Fiscal Year 2000/2001 and the Level of Voluntary Contributions from Member Countries for the fiscal years 2000/2001, 2001/2002, and 2002/2003.
• Two organizations were approved to become Associated Institutions of the IAI: the Centro del Agua del Trópico Húmedo para América Latina y el Caribe (CATHALAC) and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN).
