Joint Report of the Science Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC)

This joint report from the Science Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) details the committees' activities during the intersessional period leading up to the 32nd meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) in May 2024. • SAC and SPAC members contributed to several high-level outputs, including a policy brief on water security in the Americas based on the IPCC Sixth assessment report (AR6), which was shared at Latin America Climate Week in October 2023 and UNFCCC COP28 in December 2023.
• The committees are supporting the development of a transdisciplinary research funding call titled “Tropical Forests: global implications and urgent needed actions,” scheduled for launch at SRI2024 in June 2024.
• The report recommends that the Conference of the Parties develop sustainable financing strategies for the IAI Directorate, including increasing Party contributions and identifying external or in-kind resources.
