Informe de la 27. a reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes del Instituto Interamericano para la Investigación del Cambio Global

The report details the proceedings and decisions of the 27th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-27) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Brasilia, Brazil, on June 5-6, 2019. The meeting focused on financial sustainability, the adoption of a new 25-year Strategic Plan, the revision of the Scientific Agenda, and the expansion of regional partnerships to better integrate science into public policy.

• To improve the translation of science into policy, the IAI is developing a Fellowship program for early-career researchers to be placed in national government offices and ministries. This initiative is being built with the assistance of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
• The IAI is expanding its network of Associates, specifically inviting the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute in Colombia and the COIBA AIP Scientific Station in Panama to join the Institute.
• The IAI is pursuing a regional South-South collaboration approach to promote open data and open science, partnering with the International Science Council (ICS), the Committee on Data for Science (CODATA), and the African Academy of Sciences (AAS).
• The CoP-27 established a working group to contact national funding agencies to encourage and ensure support for IAI's science and capacity-building programs.
• The IAI is exploring strategic partnerships for funding and research, including potential collaboration with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to act as an Associate in Latin America and cooperation with Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
