A briefing from the Chair of the IAI Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) requesting nominations for a membership vacancy to be filled at the June 2017 Conference of the Parties in Bogotá, Colombia.

• A vacancy for one SPAC member will occur in June 2016 as Maria Netto, who represents the climate finance sector and is from Brazil, reaches the end of her first term. The vacancy is to be filled at the June 2017 Conference of the Parties in Bogotá, Colombia, and Maria Netto is eligible for renomination and re-election.
• The SPAC seeks nominees with high standards of science excellence who act as representatives of their experience in science-policy integration rather than as representatives of a specific country. Required expertise includes science-based decision making, the ability to communicate scientific information for policy, experience in leveraging research use, and experience related to global change, specifically climate change.
• The current SPAC membership by country of residence consists of two members from Argentina, two from Canada (one of Mexican origin), and one each from Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, and the USA (of Brazilian origin). The committee seeks geographic, gender, and ethnic balance and welcomes nominations from under-represented groups.
