DECIMA REUNION DE LA CONFERENCIA DE LAS PARTES (CoP)

The Tenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP), held on June 3 and 5, 2003, in Boulder, USA, adopted eleven resolutions concerning the administrative, financial, and scientific governance of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI).

• The CoP approved several financial and operational documents for the 2003/2004 fiscal year, including the Basic Budget Request as modified by the CE-XVII, the levels of Country Contributions as recommended by the CE-XVII, and the modified Annual Program presented by the IAI Executive Director.
• The CoP established an 'Ad Hoc Committee on Relations with Member States' to support the Executive Director in identifying political and administrative contacts within Member States, advising on effective communication strategies, and participating in interactions regarding financial and participation aspects.
• The CoP defined 'basic support' as funds for activities that constitute the daily operations of the IAI, excluding salaries and associated benefits. These funds include staff travel, other costs such as CE working group support and equipment budgets, and the Director's Special Fund.
• Administrative decisions included the approval of the Financial Statement and Auditor's Report for the 2001-2002 fiscal year, the approval of a modified Scientific Agenda by the CE-XVII, and the decision to postpone the election of a SAC member until the next Conference.
• The CoP approved open membership for the Standing Committee on Rules, with members acting in a personal capacity, and agreed to consider changing the frequency of meetings at the next session.
