Hacia el desarrollo de una plataforma digital integrada de datos FAIR en el nexo clima-ambiente-salud en la región sudamericana: Estudio de caso en Argentina

This policy brief describes the development of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for a digital platform (PladCAS) designed to integrate climate, environment, and health (CAS) data in Argentina using FAIR principles to improve evidence-based decision-making.

• Climate, environment, and health (CAS) data in South America, and specifically Argentina, is characterized by fragmentation, low interoperability, and difficulties regarding access and reuse, which hinders the identification of vulnerable populations and evidence-based decision-making.
• An assessment of 84 data sources (comprising 55 datasets and 29 platforms) in Argentina revealed a high availability of CAS data, but only medium levels of compliance with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, particularly in the areas of reuse, licenses, and interoperability.
• The project co-constructed an initial list of 173 CAS indicators aligned with international frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CEPAL, PAHO (OPS), and Lancet Countdown.
• The primary obstacles to data integration are fragmentation and a lack of temporal and spatial harmonization of the data.
• The PladCAS platform is designed to be scalable for implementation across South America and can be integrated into the national statistical system to improve transparency, monitoring, and accountability.
