This document is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 9, 2023, between the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and the Executive Secretariat of the Central American Agricultural Council (SE-CAC) to establish a framework for cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.

• The MoU aims to promote collaboration in science, technology, and innovation focusing on climate action and food systems, specifically including climate-adapted sustainable agriculture, agrobiodiversity, nutrition, multifunctional landscapes (including integrated soil and water management), healthy diet consumption, and digital inclusion in agriculture.
• The parties have identified six modalities for cooperation: exchanging experiences on sustainable agricultural practices and innovation programs; promoting research on sustainable agriculture; providing training for regional scientists, technicians, and specialists; facilitating mobility for entrepreneurs, researchers, and government officials in Central America and the Americas; formulating technical and financial cooperation projects; and any other agreed-upon modalities.
• The agreement was signed on December 9, 2023, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, during COP 28. It remains in effect for four years and will automatically renew for an equal period.
• Financial execution of the MoU is subject to the budget availability of each party and does not constitute a commitment for future fiscal years or additional economic obligations. Both parties agree to collaborate in seeking funding sources.
