This report details the proceedings of the Communications Task Force (CTF) meeting held on May 16-17, 2001, in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. • The CTF recommended changing the newsletter distribution method. Instead of sending packages to country representatives, the editor will now distribute the newsletter directly to recipients using mailing lists provided by country representatives to expedite delivery.
• The IAI is developing a new homepage to modernize the site and make it more attractive and easier to use. Estimated costs for the project are US$ 250-300 for graphic design and US$ 1,000-1,500 for text edition, with a target operational date of mid-July 2001.
• The 1999-2000 annual report faced significant delays because articles from invited authors and the IAI Directorate were not submitted until April 2001. The IAI Director attributed these delays to priorities given to the administrative, financial, and accounting division.
• The theme for the 2000-2001 annual report was approved as "IAI Vision Strategy: Science that Serves Society," with a goal of publication by December 2001, provided all materials are submitted by July 2, 2001.
• The CTF recommended a two-phase integrated marketing strategy: first, a diagnosis of the current situation to evaluate IAI's image and prestige in the Americas and the world, followed by the development of an integrated communication strategy based on those results.
