Report on the CRN II Program (peer-review process)

• The CRN II application process involved 93 original pre-proposals, from which the IAI SAC recommended 34 for full proposal invitations. By the 23 March 2005 deadline, 37 full proposals were received.
• Full proposals underwent a three-step review process consisting of mail review (April to mid-July 2005), panel review (20-22 July 2005), and a final review by the IAI Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) from 26-28 July 2005.
• Evaluation criteria for the CRN II proposals included scientific excellence, technical soundness, relevance to the IAI Science Agenda, policy relevance, multinational and multidisciplinary collaboration, integration of natural and social science, capacity building potential, budget appropriateness, and in-kind contributions. The IAI SAC also considered thematic and geographic distribution across member countries.
