Report of the XVI Meeting of the IAI Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC)

The XVI meeting of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), held on October 5, 2001, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focused on administrative updates, the progress of science reporting, the establishment of a Small Grants Program, and the planning of a synthesis book titled 'Montevideo +10'.

• Administrative changes were made to the SAC, including the election of Luiz Bevilacqua as the new SAC Chair to replace John Stewart. The committee also assigned new advisory roles for specific CRNs to Lynne Hale, Rene Capote, Luiz Fernando Legey, and Julia Nogues Paegle.
