• The IAI updated its Data and Information System (DIS) as of April 14, 2005, in collaboration with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The system is integrated with the LBA-DIS and utilizes the Mercury Consortium for web-based metadata search and data retrieval at an annual cost of $15,000.
• The Executive Council decided to form a group led by the new Executive Director to analyze member country participation. This study will look beyond financial aspects to evaluate the relevance of IAI activities to national research needs, the benefits provided to members, and the sensitivity of the contribution scheme to changing financial situations.
• The IAI reduced the frequency of its Newsletter from four to three issues per year for 2005, citing staff workload and the need to strengthen content rather than purely financial reasons.
• The IAI is revising its administrative manuals to improve efficiency and transparency, including a new Employee Manual, a Project Management Manual (incorporating institutional risk assessment), and a simplified Procurement and Contracting Manual.
