The Executive Council (EC) at its 18th Meeting decided to assign to the EC Bureau a series of functions as described in the Do

The Standing Committee on Rules and Procedures concluded that no modifications to the Executive Council's (EC) Rules of Procedure are required to implement the functions assigned to the EC Bureau. While the Committee suggested minor wording clarifications for functions related to reporting and evaluation, it maintained that the current regulatory framework is sufficient.

• The Standing Committee on Rules and Procedures determined that implementing the specified functions of the EC Bureau does not require any changes to the EC Rules of Procedure.
• The proposed functions for the EC Bureau are organized around three central axes: scientific and technological policy (the primary axis for fulfilling the IAI mission), financial policy (ensuring the IAI's existence), and institutional development (focusing on the IAI's notoriety and the Executive Director's performance).
• The EC Bureau is assigned specific functions, including elevating opinions to the EC on scientific, financial, and institutional matters; annually approving the Executive Director's Performance Plan and conducting an annual evaluation of the Director; reviewing the EC President's reports; and evaluating the work of EC working groups and committees.
• The Committee found that the Bureau's responsibility to evaluate the Executive Director is consistent with the EC's existing role as the executive body tasked with ensuring the Director fulfills responsibilities for daily operations and policy implementation.
