This research paper examines the perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes of public environmental managers regarding climate change impacts in the coastal zone of São Paulo state, focusing on the information used for adaptation planning.

• The coastal zone of São Paulo state is highly susceptible to climate change effects, a vulnerability increased by high population density, the presence of environmental reserves and legal protection areas, and the concentration of economically significant national activities.
• Research conducted via SurveyGizmo questionnaires reveals that while environmental managers show increasing levels of concern regarding climate change impacts, there is a lack of effective public policy development aimed at mitigation or adaptation to these expected impacts.
