Advancing State Leadership for Environmental Justice: A New Chapter with GreenLatinos

Ean Thomas Tafoya has transitioned from Colorado State Director to Vice President of State Programs at GreenLatinos. The organization aims to counter federal environmental policy rollbacks by amplifying state-based solutions and supporting member leaders across five states to protect Latino communities from pollution and systemic inequities.

• The organization views state-level leadership as a critical frontline for innovation and advocacy, particularly as federal support for environmental protections wavers.
• During a six-year tenure as Colorado State Director, GreenLatinos achieved legislative success with the Colorado Environmental Justice Act, conducted educational tours across all 64 counties, and won court cases against the state and polluters.
• GreenLatinos utilizes specific initiatives, including the Justicia y Equidad Fund and the Frontline Accelerator Program, to provide resources and expertise to local changemakers.
• In the new role of Vice President of State Programs, the objective is to collaborate with member leaders across five states to build capacity, foster partnerships, and transform grassroots movements into sustainable programs.
