GreenLatinos Statement Condemning Terrorism on Capitol Hill

GreenLatinos condemns the January 6, 2021, attack on Capitol Hill as an act of domestic terrorism and white nationalism instigated by the U.S. President. The organization highlights the disparity between the law enforcement response to this event compared to racial justice protests and calls for the immediate removal of Donald Trump via impeachment or the 25th Amendment.

• GreenLatinos characterizes the January 6, 2021, events on Capitol Hill as an assault on democracy carried out by domestic terrorists and white nationalists who were empowered by the President of the United States and some Republican members of Congress through rhetoric, lies, and conspiracy.
• The organization notes a stark contrast between the law enforcement response to the Capitol insurrection and the response to protests for racial justice, citing a history of unwarranted violence by law enforcement against immigrants and people of color.
• GreenLatinos calls for the immediate removal of Donald Trump from office through impeachment or the 25th Amendment and demands accountability for those who incited and performed the violence.
