The GreenCape Development Agency NPC's Privacy Policy, implemented in August 2023, outlines how the organization collects, processes, and protects personal information in compliance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA).

• GreenCape collects a wide range of personal data from individuals, including contact details, company information (such as job titles and VAT numbers), academic and professional qualifications, and identification numbers. In specific cases where strictly necessary, they may collect special personal information such as criminal records, medical history, or religious and philosophical beliefs.
• Personal information is used for purposes including legislative compliance, providing requested services, membership database management, reporting to donors and stakeholders, and promotional activities on social media and the organization's website, unless the individual objects.
• GreenCape does not sell personal information to third parties for marketing. However, it may share data with industry partners, specific employees, third-party service providers, donors, and legal authorities such as the Receiver of Revenue or the Department of Labour.
• While based in South Africa, GreenCape transfers and maintains personal information on servers located in the United States of America, Europe, and Ireland. Such transfers are conducted in accordance with POPIA, ensuring the destination country has equivalent or better data protection legislation or that the provider adheres to equivalent requirements.
