Status of Resources and Execution of the Administrative Budget of the Green Climate Fund for 1 January to 31 December 2014

The Green Climate Fund reported total pledges of approximately US$ 10.2 billion following a High-Level Pledging Conference and subsequent announcements. For the 2014 calendar year, the Fund's actual administrative expenditures were US$ 9.7 million, significantly under its approved budget of US$ 18.8 million, primarily due to delays in staff recruitment. • The primary cause for the administrative budget under-expenditure was a US$ 6 million shortfall in staff costs resulting from delays in recruiting permanent staff.
• The Fund spent US$ 398,442 on readiness activities in 2014 against a total approved budget of US$ 15 million, with discussions underway with approximately 50 countries to advance support requests.
• A special contribution of US$ 1.4 million from the Republic of Korea for headquarters furniture and ICT equipment saw US$ 718,701 expended by 31 August 2014.
