Pharm Access Project

The Pharm Access Project, funded by FCDO and implemented by FSD Africa and PharmAccess, aims to strengthen the data analysis capabilities of Ghana's National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA). The project focuses on improving health finance systems and supporting Ghana's roadmap for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through better operational data and provider/payer relationships.

• The project aims to improve data-quality and usage at the National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA) in Ghana, which provides coverage for approximately 50% of the population, to achieve better health outcomes, higher membership, and increased cost efficiency.
• The project intends to reduce fragility and vulnerability in Ghana by strengthening the capacity of the private sector and government to operate health finance systems and by applying transparent metrics to the national roadmap for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
• The NHIA CEO has indicated plans to establish a dedicated data analysis unit, likely in July 2022, which is intended to be a key partner for the project.
