The New York Declaration on Forests (NYDF) is a collective commitment to slow, stop, and reverse global forest loss while improving food security. The declaration outlines specific targets for 2030, including ending natural forest loss and restoring 350 million hectares of degraded landscapes, to mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity.

• Global forests are critical for biodiversity and climate regulation, supporting up to 80% of terrestrial biodiversity and absorbing carbon naturally. However, an average of 10 million hectares of forest are lost annually, with approximately half of global deforestation caused by the permanent conversion of forests for agricultural commodities such as soy, palm oil, beef, and paper.
