Concerns for the safety of the witness to Berta Cáceres’s murder

Friends of the Earth International expresses concern over the safety of Gustavo Castro Soto, a witness to the murder of Berta Cáceres, and criticizes a Honduran judge's decision to maintain an immigration alert preventing his return to Mexico.

• Berta Cáceres, leader of the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH), was murdered by gunmen in her home on March 2nd after leading a campaign that forced the world's largest dam builder to withdraw from the Agua Zarca Dam project.
• Gustavo Castro Soto, director of Otros Mundos Mexico and a witness wounded in the attack on Cáceres, was prevented from returning to Mexico for an additional 30 days by Judge Victorina Flores of the First Court of Letters of La Esperanza, Intibucá.
