Blocus illégal de Gaza

Friends of the Earth International condemns the illegal blockade of Gaza since 2007 as a crime against humanity and a violation of international humanitarian law. The statement highlights a severe humanitarian crisis where 80% of the population depends on aid, 69% of youth are unemployed, and critical infrastructure is failing, with only 4% of water being potable. • Since June 2007, Israel has maintained an illegal blockade of Gaza, restricting the movement of people and goods. This action was described by the UN Secretary-General in 2016 as a "punition collective pour laquelle il faut rendre des comptes". Friends of the Earth International classifies the blockade, famine, and siege as crimes against humanity.
• The blockade has caused severe socio-economic distress for the population of Gaza: 50% of Palestinians in Gaza live in poverty, 80% rely on humanitarian aid, 68% face food insecurity, and 69% of youth are unemployed.
• Environmental degradation and lack of essential resources have rendered Gaza uninhabitable. Electricity is available for only two to four hours daily, and only 4% of the water is fit for human use. Furthermore, up to 35% of agricultural land and 85% of fishing waters have been affected in various locations.
• Israel's policies toward Gaza's two million inhabitants are described as an absolute violation of international humanitarian law. This includes failing to guarantee basic needs as an occupying power, employing collective punishment, and destroying objects essential for civilian survival. Implementation methods include the use of live ammunition, harassment and detention of fishers, leveling agricultural land, and confiscating fishing boats.
• Friends of the Earth International demands that Israel immediately cease military operations in Gaza, end collective punishment, open border crossings for goods and people, and restore fuel and humanitarian aid. They also call on the international community to enforce Israel's international legal obligations regarding access to food, water, sanitation, and medical services.
