Solidaridad internacionalista con la sociedad civil palestina

A statement by Friends of the Earth International and other civil society organizations expressing solidarity with six Palestinian human rights organizations designated as terrorist entities by the Israeli government in late 2021.

• On October 19, 2021, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz issued a military ordinance designating six Palestinian civil society organizations as "terrorist organizations". These organizations are Addameer, al-Haq, Defense for Children International - Palestine, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, the Bisan Center for Research and Development, and the Union of Palestinian Women's Committees. Subsequently, on November 7, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) classified them as "unauthorized," which the document states facilitates further repression.
• The designations allow the Israeli government to seize organizational assets, arrest staff and members, and close offices. These sanctions may also extend to individuals who maintain contact with or assist the criminalized organizations.
• Frontline Defenders reported that six Palestinian human rights defenders, including those from the designated NGOs, were targeted by Pegasus spyware developed by NSO Group during 2020 and 2021, prior to the official designations.
• The Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), established in 1986, is the largest agricultural institution in Palestine and received the UN Development Programme's Equator Prize in 2014. Its work focuses heavily on 'Zone C' in the West Bank, an area the document states Israel intends to annex and where illegal settlement expansion has accelerated, including a plan announced shortly after Gantz's order to build 3,144 new homes.
