Friends of the Earth International calls for the suspension and termination of the Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) system to prevent corporations from suing governments over public interest measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Specific COVID-19 response measures that could trigger ISDS arbitration include debt restructuring, making tests and medicines affordable, the utilization of private hospitals, and mandates for business closures.
• A coalition of over 600 civil society organizations globally demands that governments stop signing future agreements containing ISDS, terminate existing ISDS agreements, and suspend all active ISDS cases for the duration of the COVID crisis.
