Solidarité internationaliste avec la société civile palestinienne

A statement by Friends of the Earth International and other social movements expressing solidarity with six Palestinian civil society organizations designated as terrorist entities by the Israeli government in October 2021.

• On October 19, 2021, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz issued a military order designating six Palestinian civil society organizations as "terrorist organizations": Addameer, al-Haq, Defense for Children Palestine, Union of Agricultural Work Committees, Bisan Center for Research and Development, and Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees. Subsequently, on November 7, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) classified these organizations as "unauthorized," which enables the Israeli government to seize assets, close offices, and arrest staff.
• The Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), the largest agricultural organization in Palestine founded in 1986, focuses its work in the West Bank's "Zone C," where Israel is pursuing annexation and expanding illegal settlements. One week after the designation of the six organizations, Israel announced plans to build 3,144 new housing units in illegal West Bank settlements.
• Frontline Defenders reported that six Palestinian human rights organizations, including those later designated as terrorists, were targeted by Pegasus spyware developed by the NSO Group during 2020 and 2021. The document cites this as evidence of the Israeli government's failure to enforce human rights regulations on its companies.
• The signatories call upon the international community, specifically the UN Human Rights Council, the US government, and European governments and members of the European Parliament, to pressure Israel to revoke the terrorist designations and end the occupation of Palestinian lands.
