Statement in solidarity with Acción Ecológica in light of the dissolution request issued by the Ecuadorian Government

Friends of the Earth International (FoEI) and Friends of the Earth Latin America and the Caribbean (ATALC) issued a statement of solidarity with the social organization Acción Ecológica following a request by the Ecuadorian government to dissolve the organization.

• Friends of the Earth International (FoEI) and Friends of the Earth Latin America and the Caribbean (ATALC) expressed deep concern regarding a request to dissolve and close down the social organization Acción Ecológica, a request issued by the Internal Affairs Vice Minister Dr. Diego Torres Saldaña.
• FoEI and ATALC describe Acción Ecológica as an organization that has spent years fighting in Latin America for the defense of the rights of nature, the pursuit of buen vivir, and the assurance of a wholesome environment.
• FoEI and ATALC call upon global social and environmental justice groups to support Acción Ecológica and request that the Ecuadorian government guarantee democratic dialogue to resolve the situation.
