This report critiques the UN Food Systems Summit for replacing state-led multilateralism with a multi-stakeholder approach, which the authors argue enables transnational corporations to dominate food systems governance and promote corporate-friendly solutions.

• The UN Food Systems Summit represents a shift from multilateralism, where decision-making is led by States, toward a multi-stakeholder approach. This new governance practice incorporates corporations, corporate platforms, business associations, donors, academics, and civil society agents into dialogue, decision-making, and the implementation of responses to shared problems.
• The transition from multilateralism to a multi-stakeholder approach within the United Nations system allows powerful transnational corporations and their associations to influence national and international policy, funding, narratives, and governance. This shift is used to promote corporate-friendly 'false solutions' for food systems in crisis.
