Black lives matter : les vies noires comptent

Friends of the Earth International issues a statement condemning systemic police violence, environmental racism, and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Black populations in the United States. The organization criticizes the Trump administration's perceived shift toward fascism and militarism, while calling for the correction of historical injustices related to African enslavement and indigenous genocide. The statement affirms solidarity with Black communities and protesters worldwide in the struggle against systemic racism.

• The document identifies systemic police violence in the United States as a source of severe state power abuse and flagrant human rights violations.
• Environmental racism and the disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on Black populations are cited as further evidence of violent neglect toward people of color in the United States.
• The organization argues that the Trump administration's support for white nationalism and use of lethal force against protesters represents a move toward fascism that encourages other repressive regimes globally.
• The United States is described as having a responsibility to address historical injustices stemming from the enslavement of Africans and the genocide of indigenous peoples to repair intergenerational trauma.
