If it’s not feminist, it’s not just

This research paper by Friends of the Earth International argues that a truly just energy transition requires the integration of a feminist perspective to address systemic injustices, including patriarchal oppression, which are inherent to the fossil energy system. It draws on a series of three international webinars held in late 2020 involving 100 activists to outline a collective vision for system change.

• The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted existing systemic vulnerabilities and gendered impacts, with black and indigenous women, women of colour, LBTQ women, and peasant and working class women bearing the brunt of the crisis socially, politically, and economically.
