This report examines how the fossil fuel sector utilizes voluntary carbon markets to justify the continued use of a fossil-fuel-based economy through carbon offsetting and 'greenwashing'.

• The report asserts that preventing global average temperatures from exceeding 1.5°C requires a rapid, just, and equitable transition to a renewable energy system focused on people's needs, and that carbon offsets have no place in a fossil-free future.
