Pas de justice sans féminisme

This document outlines a feminist perspective on a just energy transition, arguing that current definitions of 'just' fail to address systemic injustices and patriarchal oppression inherent in the fossil fuel energy system. It presents a collective vision developed through 2020 webinars involving Friends of the Earth International activists and allies.

• The current global discourse on a 'just transition' in the context of climate change does not sufficiently address interconnected systemic injustices, specifically patriarchal oppression, which are integral to the existing fossil fuel-based energy production system.
• Women have historically been at the forefront of resisting the fossil fuel industrial sector and creating alternatives, while simultaneously being the primary victims of its social, economic, health, and political negative impacts.
• The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted intersecting systemic vulnerabilities and injustices, with women—particularly Black, Indigenous, women of color, LBQT women, female farmers, and working-class women—bearing the social, political, and economic burdens of the crisis while providing frontline solidarity.
