Israel’s attempt to demolish Palestinian village Khan al Ahmar contravenes international law

Friends of the Earth International denounces the forced displacement and planned demolition of the Palestinian Bedouin village of Khan al Ahmar in the occupied West Bank. The organization argues that these actions, part of the E1 settlement block plan to connect Ma’ale Adumim to East Jerusalem, violate international law and humanitarian obligations. • The village of Khan al Ahmar is located within the E1 settlement block, a strategic area intended to link the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim with annexed East Jerusalem, which would result in the confiscation of Palestinian land for Israeli settlers.
• Residents of Khan al Ahmar face extreme poverty and a lack of basic infrastructure, including no electricity network, sewage system, or proper roads, and suffer from a lack of health, education, and welfare services.
• On 5 March 2017, demolition orders were issued for all homes and structures in Khan al Ahmar, including the school, mosque, clinic, and barns, requiring their removal within seven days.
