Declaración de Solidaridad con las víctimas de Rana Plaza y con las mujeres trabajadoras en marcha en este Día Mundial de Acción Feminista

A solidarity statement by Friends of the Earth International issued on April 24, 2015, marking the second anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse and participating in a global feminist action to denounce economic violence against women and corporate abuses.

• The Rana Plaza complex in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which produced clothing for international brands, collapsed two years prior to the statement, resulting in the deaths of over one thousand women workers and leaving hundreds seriously injured and unable to work.
• On April 24, 2015, a decentralized 24-hour global feminist action was held to express solidarity with Rana Plaza victims and denounce economic violence against women, highlighting how inhuman working conditions in multinational corporate chains exploit women's bodies, territories, and productive and reproductive labor.
• Women environmental defenders—including peasant leaders in land disputes, indigenous women protecting territories from hydroelectric dams, monoculture plantations, or oil, gas, and mineral extraction, and urban workers fighting for decent work and clean air—face increased risks of violence, sexual harassment, exclusion, and prejudice.
• Friends of the Earth International, collaborating with the World March of Women, seeks to dismantle corporate power and ensure transnational companies are held legally accountable for human rights abuses and environmental crimes.
