Appel des organisations de la société civile à leurs gouvernements concernant la Nouvelle Alliance pour la Sécurité Alimentaire et la Nutrition en Afrique

• The document asserts that small-scale farmers produce 70% of food production in Africa and are the largest group of agricultural investors. It argues that food insecurity can only be solved by promoting agricultural systems based on human rights and food sovereignty, allowing local control over seeds, land, water, forests, and technology.
• The signatories propose alternative investment strategies focused on public services and infrastructure to support rural communities and local markets. They advocate for public procurement policies to increase food production through decentralized, autonomous, and sustainable systems, rather than the global markets dominated by private operators favored by the New Alliance.
• The civil society organizations demand that governments suspend all commitments and aid related to the New Alliance. They call for the revision of projects by multi-stakeholder platforms, the protection of the right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) for land transactions, and the rejection of seed laws based on the UPOV 1991 convention.
