• Small-scale food producers, who are responsible for more than 70 percent of global food production, face worsening conditions as power concentration in the industrial food chain intensifies.
• The use of 'big data'—the ability to collect and analyze vast amounts of information such as weather conditions, market prices, yields, and soil—promotes corporatization by allowing companies to monopolize information to block competition and increase profits.
