UN Treaty proposals by the Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples Sovereignty – 2015

A 2015 submission by the Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity providing eight proposals for a legally binding international instrument regarding the human rights obligations of transnational corporations.

• In June 2014, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 26/9, which focuses on creating a legally binding international instrument concerning transnational corporations (TNCs) and other business enterprises in relation to human rights.
• The proposed international instrument is intended to reduce the impunity transnational corporations experience regarding human rights violations, particularly within the Global South, and to provide victims with access to justice.
• The submission was produced by the Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity, a network of more than 200 organizations, social movements, and representatives of affected communities globally, and it outlines eight proposals regarding the content, form, scope, and nature of the instrument.
