Solidaridad tras asesinato de activista ambiental francés

Amigos de la Tierra de América Latina y el Caribe (ATALC) issued a statement condemning the death of 21-year-old French environmental activist Remi Fraisse, who was killed by French gendarmerie explosive grenades during a protest against the Sivens dam project in Gaillac.

• Remi Fraisse, a 21-year-old French activist, died on Monday, October 27, during a protest involving approximately 2,000 people against the construction of the Sivens dam in Gaillac, southwest France. The project is criticized for causing the deforestation and flooding of a strategic wetland and affecting local farmers.
• The death occurred during a peaceful protest where the French gendarmerie used explosive grenades. ATALC calls for the responsibility of French authorities and demands an independent investigation to identify the material and intellectual authors of the killing.
