Declaración de Solidaridad en relación a la masacre del pueblo maya K`iche de Totonicapán

Friends of the Earth International issued a statement condemning the Guatemalan government's repression of the Maya K`iche people of Totonicapán, specifically a massacre on October 4, 2012, and the broader militarization of indigenous territories to facilitate corporate megaproyects.

• On October 4, 2012, a peaceful demonstration organized by the 48 Cantones de Totonicapán, an ancestral organization of the Maya K`iche people, resulted in a massacre by the Guatemalan government that killed eight indigenous people and left dozens injured.
