Fuerzas israelíes asesinan a decenas en la frontera de Gaza cuando EEUU abre su embajada en Jerusalén

A statement by Friends of the Earth International and Friends of the Earth Asia Pacific condemning the killing of dozens of Palestinians by Israeli forces at the Gaza border on May 14, 2018, coinciding with the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem.

• On May 14, 2018, Israeli forces used live ammunition against unarmed and peaceful Palestinian protesters at the Gaza border, resulting in more than 60 deaths and over 2,800 injuries, including at least 1,350 gunshot wounds. This marked the highest single-day death toll of Palestinians by Israelis since the 2014 war against Gaza.
• The violence occurred during the 'Great March of Return' protests, which coincided with the official relocation of the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and the 70th anniversary of the creation of Israel (Al Nakba).
• Since the start of the Israeli blockade in 2006, residents of Gaza have faced severe living conditions, including limited medical services and a situation where 97% of the water is non-potable, a crisis exacerbated by US funding cuts to UN agencies for Palestinian refugees.
