Friends of the Earth U.S. statement on COP19 Warsaw walkout

Friends of the Earth U.S. supports the walkout of climate activists from COP19 in Warsaw, arguing that developed countries, particularly the U.S., have failed to take necessary action to combat the climate crisis and are instead protecting corporate polluters.

• Climate activists from various global social movements, trade unions, and NGOs walked out of the COP19 talks in Warsaw to protest the failure of developed countries to address the climate crisis.
• The U.S., Australia, Japan, and Canada are accused of failing to reduce emissions or provide adequate finance for climate change, while attempting to undermine the UN Climate Convention's framework for binding greenhouse gas emission reductions.
• Poland is criticized for hosting an International Coal and Climate Summit alongside the UN climate meeting, which the document describes as showcasing the world's dirtiest fossil fuel.
