• Demand for enrollment in conservation programs consistently exceeds available funding, with over 1 million acres awaiting enrollment in the Grasslands Reserve Program and Wetlands Reserve Program, and applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and Conservation Stewardship Program exceeding funds by two to three times.
• Agricultural conservation programs provide essential environmental and economic benefits, including the protection of soil and farmland for food security, the reduction of flood and drought damage, and the creation of rural jobs and revenue through recreational activities like fishing and hunting.
