EESI's board of directors adopted the following board resolution establishing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as core EESI values

In January 2020, the EESI Board of Directors adopted a resolution designating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as core organizational values. The resolution acknowledges that climate change disproportionately burdens marginalized groups and establishes a Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to guide policy development and ensure accountability.

• EESI identifies a direct link between diversity and the effectiveness of sustainable energy advocacy, noting that climate change creates disproportionate burdens for indigenous people, communities of color, and low-income communities who have faced institutional discrimination and racism.
• The organization has formally endorsed DEI as core values to strengthen its internal community and ensure that its programs and policies support an equitable transition toward a clean energy economy that is decarbonized.
• To implement these values and maintain accountability, the Board of Directors has created a specific Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to oversee the development of new programs and policies.
