Seasonal Climate Outlook for Europe July

Europe's June 2025 was its 5th warmest on record, with record-high temperatures in England, France, Italy, and most of Spain, and record-low rainfall in the Balkans. Forecasts for August-September 2025 project temperatures 1-2°C above average across most of Europe, an increase of 1-5 warm days per month, and precipitation deficits of 10-40% in parts of southeastern and southwestern Europe.

• June 2025 was the 5th warmest June on record for Europe, measuring 1.1°C above the 1991-2020 mean, with record high monthly-mean temperatures in England, France, Italy, and most of Spain, and the warmest June since 1960 in the western Mediterranean.
• As of July 1st, extreme drought conditions affected the British Isles, while moderate or severe drought affected much of central Europe, Italy, and the Balkans, the latter of which saw record-dry conditions in June.
• Forecasts for August-September 2025 indicate most of Europe will be 1-2°C warmer than average, with an expected increase of 1-5 warm days per month throughout the continent and precipitation anomalies of negative 10-40% in parts of southeastern and southwestern Europe.
