Europe experienced a warmer-than-average October 2025, with significant rainfall in the Balkans. Forecasts for the December 2025 – February 2026 winter period project warmer-than-average temperatures, particularly in northeastern Europe, and weakly positive precipitation anomalies.

• For the winter period of December 2025 to February 2026, Europe is projected to be warmer than average, with temperature anomalies ranging from 0.5°C in western Europe to 2°C in eastern and northeastern Europe.
• Winter forecasts for December 2025 – February 2026 indicate weakly positive precipitation anomalies for Europe (up to +10%) and projected positive soil moisture anomalies for parts of eastern Europe and Russia, while Turkey, western Europe, and parts of central Europe are projected to have weakly negative soil moisture anomalies.
