POR LA SALUD DE LOS CIUDADANOS: Adopción de un derecho de indemnización con garantías mínimas en la Directiva sobre emisiones industriales de la UE

• Victims of illegal industrial activities or public authority inaction currently lack effective, harmonized rules to access courts and obtain compensation.
• The proposed right to compensation in the IED would be limited to cases of illegal pollution with a demonstrated causal link to health damage, potentially saving the EU economy 55 billion euros annually through improved compliance.
• Similar compensation rights already exist in some EU Member States, such as Finland and Germany, and have led to adequate compensation for serious health damages in France.
