Eligible Residential and Commercial Buildings in Mexico

This guide outlines the eligibility criteria for residential and commercial buildings in Mexico to be certified under the Climate Bonds Standard, focusing on emissions intensity trajectories and Minergie certification requirements.

• Commercial office buildings in Mexico are eligible for certification if their emissions intensity remains below a specific trajectory. For a 10-year bond issued in 2025, the emissions intensity must be at or below 22.27kgCO2e.
• New residential buildings, new commercial offices, and commercial educational buildings are deemed eligible if they hold Minergie certification and meet two additional requirements: satisfying Fossil Fuel-Free and Efficient Energy Production points in the certification's Technologies section, and providing electric vehicle charging infrastructure where on-site parking exists.
• Existing residential buildings and those certified under Minergie-Barrio are eligible. For Minergie-Barrio, the deadline to satisfy Fossil Fuel-Free and Efficient Energy Production requirements is January 1, 2030.
