中国绿色债券市场季报 2018 第三季度

In Q3 2018, China's green bond market saw 8.5 billion USD in issuances, with financial institutions accounting for 51% of the total. While the quarterly volume dipped slightly from 2017, the year-to-date total reached 21.5 billion USD. Renewable energy remained the top sector for funding, and 49% of the quarter's issuances aligned with international green bond definitions. The report also highlights a shift toward including underground utility tunnels in green classifications and updated criteria for hydropower projects.

• Financial enterprises were the dominant issuers in Q3 2018, accounting for 51% of the total issuance volume at 4.3 billion USD. This included five new issuers, mostly small and medium-sized financial institutions such as Fudian Bank, Jiujiang Bank, Hebei Xingtai Rural Commercial Bank, and Ping An Financial Leasing. China Construction Bank was the largest issuer and the only one to have a Climate Bond certified bond in Q3.
• Offshore green bonds accounted for 19% of the total issuance in Q3 2018. Three offshore bonds were issued by China Construction Bank, CGN International, and China Everbright Bank on the Luxembourg Green Exchange, Euronext Dublin, and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, respectively.
